An Entrepreneur @ Heart!

You can see why Vermont is known
as the Green Mountain State.
I arrived in Florida on January 5, 2004 almost 8 months after graduating from Johnson State College (located in Johnson, Vermont) with a B.A. in Health Sciences. My goal was to pass my ATC's (Athletic Training Certification Exams) & quickly find an Assistant Athletic Training Position with one of the local high schools or colleges. In the meantime, I decided to support myself as I always had by working in the restaurant industry. That's how I came to find my first job in The Sunshine State @ Brewzzi Italian American Bistro & Microbrewery located in the City Place Plaza of West Palm Beach.

There's a reason it's called
The Sunshine State folks!
Now to be perfectly honest, it was the second part of the restaurant's name that really caught my attention. Fresh out of college, my thought process was that if I worked there, I might be able to get free beer or at least be able to make it.

I left Brewzzi on October 2, 2011 just shy of 8 years with the company & it will always have a place in my heart, but when it came down to it, I came to learn that God has given me an entrepreneurial heart. Which is why I left the comfort of a salaried position with a very established & reputable company to pursue the next chapter of my life.

I first started working with the Sheehan brothers in August of 2011 when they approached me with a concept that had crossed my mind many times before. The idea was simple: to put a collection of restaurant menus in one publication to be distributed to households & businesses as a way of replacing the stacks of to-go menus that every American keeps in the kitchen drawer or office filing cabinet. The following month, Menu Mix became a reality when we printed & mailed the first 5000 issues.

Just like any new business concept, we've had our speed bumps & our triumphs, but overall we are headed in the right direction. The most rewarding aspects of this new adventure have been working along side people I trust & respect, as well as the freedom it has allotted in my schedule. It's not every day that a person finds something they really enjoy doing for a living, but I guess I'm one of the lucky ones.

When we put or faith & trust in God, HE blesses us with HIS grace & unconditional love. I truly believe that God brought Menu Mix into my life at this very specific point in my life so that I could have the freedom necessary to prioritize certain things in my life. The first being HIS desire to unite Cristina & I as husband & wife. I shutter at the thought of what our journey would have been like had I still been managing Brewzzi. Anyone that has been in the restaurant industry knows that stress, anxiety, hours, and atmosphere that engulfs an individual's lively hood when attempting to make a decent living. Especially when you're a believer trying to worship HIM through your work & extend HIS grace & love to those around you. It can be exhausting & without HIM is nearly unbearable!

I'm so lucky that God made me an entrepreneur @ heart & that HE guided me towards realizing it for myself. I pray that each & everyone of you that chooses to read this is as lucky, however, I must stress that it means a life of sacrifice & that sacrifice begins with yourself! I challenge you TODAY to hand your life over to our LORD & SAVIOR if you haven't already & feel comforted knowing that you have a friend in me that you can talk to if need be!
